Backstory

15 years before the party enters Azeon a bloody coup will have taken place and the previous king and all his supporters will have been slain, and the military will have bowed their heads to the new king.  Unbeknownst to this new dictator, the (now infamous) Centurions managed to feign the young heir’s death and escaped with him to a small underground sanctuary hidden from all…..  The child is now full grown and is exceedingly well trained by the knight group.  The Centurions have over the years had to raid the dictators supply caravans etc for supplies and to curry support for their group with the common people.  The Centurions want the evil king deposed and the rightful heir put on the throne, but lack the resources/ power to do it alone.

The party will encounter this group along a trade route with a caravan they are accompanying or guarding on the way to the main city of the region.  The Centurions will easily defeat all the other guards but will spare the party and either recruit them or knock them unconscious.   If the party is knocked unconscious they will find themselves in the city being questioned by the dickhead king and then told to find and kill the “bandits” or else they will lose their precious items forever (the king will have taken one precious item.)  Thus the party will be drawn into the search to find the mysterious group and will instead find Caerlion sleeping under a tree and be convinced to join their side against the king (and to gain their possessions back.)
